Carole Bennett Obituary

Carole Edwards Bennett, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2023, in Macon, Georgia.  A funeral service will be held Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street Chapel with Elder Billy Baldwin officiating.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5962 Zebulon Road, PMB 359, Macon GA 31210.

Born on January 22, 1950, in Macon, Carole lived a life filled with love, creativity, and dedication to her family and community.

Carole was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Douglas Wayne Bennett, Sr., her son, Douglas Wayne Bennett, Jr., and her father, Charles Arthur Edwards, Jr. She is survived by her son, Lloyd Bennett of Macon; her grandchild, Logan Bennett-Chastain (Wesley) of Jones County; her great-grandchild, Kaden Chastain; her mother, Bannie Edwards; her sisters, Charlotte Worsham (Steve) of Juliette, Georgia, and Diane Phillips (Steve) of Macon; her brother, Paul Edwards of Athens, Georgia; her sister-in-law, Bobbie Saffold (Bill) of Macon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carole's love for learning and helping others led her to pursue a career in nursing later in life. She graduated with honors from Macon College and dedicated her life to providing compassionate care to her patients. Her determination and commitment to her education and career were an inspiration to all who knew her.

In addition to her work as a nurse, Carole sold AFLAC insurance for many years. She was an active member of the Kingdom Hall Joycliff Congregation and took great pride in her involvement within the community. Her dedication to her faith and her congregation were a testament to her strong character and commitment to service.

Carole's interests extended beyond her work and community involvement. She was an avid gardener who took great joy in cultivating beautiful plants and flowers. Her love for nature was evident in the care she took in creating a serene and welcoming outdoor space for her family and friends to enjoy. Carole was also a talented writer, using her creativity to express her thoughts and emotions through the written word. Her ability to capture the essence of her experiences and share them with others was a gift that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of reading her work.

Those who knew Carole will remember her as a loving, creative, and dedicated individual. Her unwavering love for her family and her passion for helping others left a lasting impact on the lives of those she touched. Carole's memory will live on through the countless lives she enriched and the love she shared with her family and friends.

In celebrating Carole's life, we remember the many ways she touched our hearts and made a difference in the world. Her legacy of love, service, and creativity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the incredible life she lived and the memories we shared with her. Carole Edwards Bennett will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
