Carl C. Williams, Jr., 73, of Macon, Georgia, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Hart’s Mortuary on Cherry Street. The family will greet friends following the service.
Son of the late Carl C. Williams, Sr. and Mary Geneva Wells Williams, Carl was born on January 11, 1950, in Macon, Georgia. In his professional life, Carl was a dedicated draftsman for many years before transitioning to a role as a substitute school teacher in the Crawford County school system. His commitment to his work was evident in his dedication and the respect he earned from his colleagues and students.
Carl loved to play billiards with his friends and loved to fish. He had a deep appreciation for rock and country music, often sharing his favorite songs with those around him. He enjoyed building and tinkering with things. He built a greenhouse and would also help his family with projects around the house. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His playful nature was evident in his interactions, as he was known to tease those he liked, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere wherever he went. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Carl is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Purvis Williams of Macon; daughter, Nicki Hughes of Macon; son, Carl Mashawn Williams (Shana) of Macon; seven grandchildren: Finn, Julee Ann, Kaylyn, Zyla, Sebryn, Keira, and Hayden; five great-grandchildren, Violet, Tishia, Weston, Willow, and Walker; sister, Linda Jimmerson (Burl) of Warner Robins, Georgia; brother, Tommy Williams (Michelle) of Ivey, Georgia; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Terry Purvis of Warner Robins, Georgia; and “other son,” Russell Williams (Lindsey) of Fort Valley, Georgia.
