Billy Joe Wilson, 83, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on April 4, 2024. Family will greet friends for a time of visitation in the Chapel of Hart’s Mortuary at the Cupola on Sunday, April 7, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, 7070 Houston Road, Macon, Georgia 31216. The Reverends Wayne Lenderman, Jeramie Collins, and Robert Thompson will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Church in the Orchard, P.O. Box 251, Fort Valley, Georgia, in honor of Mr. Billy Joe Wilson.
Billy Joe was born in Hartwell, Georgia, on January 2, 1941, to the late Walter Nevin Whidby and Susie Frances Parten Whidby. He married the love of life, Betty Ann Upshaw, and they were blessed with two daughters, Nancy and Wanda. He worked at Macon Water Authority and retired as a field engineer, with thirty-eight years of service. Billy Joe and his wife were also blessed as their family grew with their beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved his family fiercely. He will always be remembered as the “Bubble Gum PawPaw” because he always had a piece waiting for them.
Billy Joe was a faithful member of the Church in the Orchard in Fort Valley, and he enjoyed greeting people at the front door every Sunday. He will be greatly missed by his family, and all who know him.
Billy is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Betty Ann Wilson of Macon; his daughters, Nancy Mason (Paul) of Bolingbroke, Georgia; and Wanda Lenderman (Wayne) of Warner Robins, Georgia; his grandchildren, Danielle Mason Doolittle (Curtis) of Sugar Hill, Georgia; Shaun Lenderman (Ami) of Bonaire, Georgia; Mallory Lenderman Jones (C.J.) of Kathleen, Georgia; his great-grandchildren, Jayden Doolittle, Mason Doolittle, Zane Lenderman, London Lenderman, Salem Lenderman, Ashton Lenderman, Kaesyn Jones, and Daemyn Jones.
