Benjamin Beckum, of Jones County, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Antioch Baptist Church in Dry Branch with the Reverend Marty Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends Monday, March 7, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at Hart’s Mortuary Jones County Chapel.
Mr. Beckum was born in Valdosta, GA, on September 7, 1943. He later graduated from high school in Vidalia, Georgia, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Beckum went on to work at Robins Air Force Base for 30 years before working at Walmart in Macon for 20 years. He married his wife Sharon in 1983 and moved to Jones County from Macon in 1986. Mr. Beckum loved to read and doing crossword puzzles.
Mr. Beckum is survived by his wife, Sharon Beckum of Gray; son, Donald Taylor of Macon; daughter, Christy (Chad) Phillips of Gray; grandsons, Chandler Clay of Gray, Taylor Clay of Warner Robins, Cole Phillips of Gray, and Camden Phillips of Gray; great granddaughter, Emberly Clay of Warner Robins; great grandson, Braylen Clay of Warner Robins; nephew, Barry (Sylvia) Miller of Augusta; niece, Lisa (Clayton) Perkins, of Ohio, and brother-in-law, Maurice (Debra) Jones of Savannah.
