Bebe Paulette Chrismon

Bebe Paulette Chrismon, age 93, passed away peacefully Monday, January 17, 2022.  A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 3:00PM in the Chapel Ingleside Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ingleside Baptist Church, 834 Wimbish Rd, 31210, or The Middle Ga Art Association, 2330 Ingleside Ave, Macon, 31204.

Bebe was born in Toombs County, Georgia and lived in Macon for most of her 93 years.  She attended Pearl Stephens Elementary School and was a member of the A.L. Miller Senior class of 1946. She obtained an associate’s degree from Macon Jr. College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wesleyan College, going back to school as a grandmother.

Bebe was a long-time member of Ingleside Baptist Church and served in multiple capacities including singing in the choir, helping with the Youth Group, teaching Sunday School, and even driving the church bus.

Bebe was a talented artist and an active member of Macon’s art community. As President of the Middle Georgia Art Association, she helped organize and exhibited at the first Mulberry Street Arts Festival. She also exhibited at Brown’s Crossing and The Arts on Riverdale.

Bebe loved her community and served in The Four Seasons Garden Club and Macon Service League. She was recognized for 50 years of service by both organizations. She was an active resident at Carlyle Place participating in storytelling and leading singing to older residents, playing bridge and painting backdrops for productions.

Bebe was a voracious reader, and the Carlyle Place Library was one of her favorite places. She could recite poetry learned in school and often entertained children and grandchildren with stories handed down from previous generations.

Known by all as a kind and cheerful person, she always saw the glass as half full. Her smile was quick, and God’s love shone through her everywhere she went.

Bebe is survived by her children, Carol Patterson Kimsey and Wendy Chrismon Hamm, both of Macon, James Ralph Patterson (Vanessa) of Woodstock, Georgia and “additional daughters” Constance Lee Callahan of Graham, North Carolina, and Jenny Scarbrough Patterson; grandchildren, Mark Kimsey (Jen), Matthew Kimsey, Eli Jordan Patterson (Courtney), Victoria Bess Blackstone (Sam), Michael Andrew Patterson (Anna), JJ Callahan (Sandy), and Christie Callahan Moser (Darryl); and 12 great grandchildren.
