Barbara Anne Carrowan Klepsig, 91, of Macon died on October 27, 2022, from complications with COVID. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church in Macon. Born September 1, 1931, in Pantego, North Carolina, Mrs. Klepsig was the daughter of Dallas T. Carrowan, Sr. and Ethel Midyette Carrowan. She was proud of her roots growing up in North Carolina. Her father was a tobacco farmer, and her mother was from the Midyette (Midgette) family with ties to the North Carolina Coast Guard.
Mrs. Klepsig graduated from Bath High School in North Carolina and soon after moved to Macon, Georgia with her family. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Mercer University.
Mrs. Klepsig had many careers and hobbies. After college, she worked as a flight attendant with Delta Airlines, taught elementary school in Macon and Albany, Georgia, was a real estate agent in Tampa, Florida, and lastly worked as a Prudential insurance agent in Macon. She loved painting, sewing, reading, and later in life, traveling with friends and spending time at St. Simons Island, Georgia.
In 1957, she married David Eugene Klepsig in Macon, to whom she remained married until his passing in 1996. They lived in many states due to David’s career but settled in Macon upon his retirement. That is when her successful career with Prudential began.
Mrs. Klepsig is survived by her daughter, Holly Klepsig Dobbins; grandson, Crayton Dobbins; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, David E. Klepsig Jr.; parents; sisters, Lola Gaylord and Alene Morgan; brothers, D.T. Carowan and Raeford Carrowan.
