Anthony Cox, 74, of Macon, Georgia, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Hart’s Chapel at the Cupola. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
Son of the late Lynwood Joseph Cox and Barbara Ledger Cox, Anthony was born in Louisville, Georgia on February 25, 1949. During his lifetime, Anthony experienced a fulfilling career, running Cox Service Station on Napier Avenue for numerous years and then retiring from YKK after 25 years of dutiful service. His work ethic and dedication were unmatched.
Anthony had a spirited enthusiasm for hunting, fishing, and NASCAR, with a special fondness for Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon. However, his greatest joy came from his grandchildren. He cherished every moment he spent with them and found immense happiness in watching them grow.
His enduring spirit, work ethic, and profound love for his family carry on in the hearts of those who knew him. Anthony will be deeply missed and remembered for being a dedicated family man, avid sports fan, and steadfast community figure.
Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Cox of Macon, Georgia; children, Tracey Cox (Amanda) of Kathleen, Georgia, Wendy Grady (Brian) of Macon, Georgia, and Shawn Cox (Shalana) of Kathleen, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Annabelle Cox, Reynolds Cox, Carter Cox, Colin Grady, Maggie Grady, Abigail Grady, Bailey Cox, Tanner Cox, and Ansley Cox; brothers, Bruce Cox (Diane) of Macon, Georgia, and Mark Cox of Dry Branch, Georgia; sister, Judy Hendrickson (Layne) of North Carolina; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Gunter (Pam) of Watkinsville, Georgia and Doug Gunter (Dianne) of Denver, North Carolina; sisters-in-law, Betty Dattler of Ocean Isle, North Carolina and Oneal Self (James) of Watkinsville, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
