Alexia “Lexi” Marie Benton, 19, of Macon, went to rest on Wednesday, June 15, 2022. The Benton family will greet friends privately from 1-3p.m. Monday, June 20, 2022, at Hart’s Jones County Chapel with a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Wimbish Road Seventh-day Adventist Church, 640 Wimbish Rd. Macon, GA 31210. Elder Bobby Dumas will officiate.
Lexi was born on March 25, 2003, in Macon, Georgia. She was a graduate of First Presbyterian Day School. She worked at Gray’s K-9 Academy in Lizella, Georgia. She was a very talented dog trainer, an avid animal lover, and a horseback rider. Lexi especially loved her 4-legged children, Kenai and Aurora. Lexi was very kind, and she had the biggest heart. She was always rescuing animals and often would purchase clothes and food for the homeless. Lexi lit up any room she walked into and was full of joy. Lexi loved to spend time with her dogs, her family, and her boyfriend, Jackson.
Lexi will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Melanie Benton, of Macon; father Shane Benton and his wife Tracy, of Macon; siblings Mikayla Benton and Colton Benton, of Warner Robins; step-siblings Erin (Wade) Lewis, of Griffin, Georgia; Wyatt Curry and Tyler Curry of Culloden, Georgia; grandmother, Shelby “Nina” Kasulka (Papa Jim), of Jones County; grandparents Joe and Melza Benton “PawPaw and Granny”, of Jones County; great-grandmother Jackie Cauley, of Jones County; aunts Rachel Cauley, of Macon; Haley (Barry) Monroe, of Tenaha, Texas; Daphne (Alton) West, of Jones County. Great Aunt Gail Metcalf (John), of Macon; boyfriend Jackson Dawson, of Macon; cousins, Caley Caddell of Eatonton, Rayner Caddell, of Palm Bay, Florida, Michael Ramirez, of Kennesaw; Kristy Bridges (Shane); Abbey Bonds, of Jones County; Brooke Monroe, of Tenaha, Texas; Kaylani West, Luke West, and Lilly West all of Jones County. Harley Cable, Dillan Cable, and Mia Comer of Jones County and many extended family members.
Lexi was preceded in death by her grandfather, “Papa” Mike Cauley, of Jones County; great-grandparents Harry and Mary Cone, of Macon; great-grandparents Dupree and Bernell Betts, of Jones County, great-grandparents Charles and Irene Benton of Jones County.
