Yong Cha Bates, age 76, passed peacefully Thursday, September 16, 2021, in the comfort of her home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 19, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Baptist Gospel Mission with the Reverend Ki Young Do officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Bates was born March 20, 1945, in Seoul, Korea. Yong Cha was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She had limitless amounts of love for her family and loved ones. She was an avid adventurer and had an immense passion for gardening and nature. Her main focus was taking care of her family and strengthening her faith. She was a lifelong member of The Baptist Gospel Mission and was a devout follower of God. She was born again and washed in the blood of Christ. Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by father, So Joon Do; mother, Bok Sim Kim; and brother, Ki Won Do.
Mrs. Bates is survived by her husband of 49 years, Bill Bates, Sr. of Macon; children, Bill Bates, Jr. and Toby Bates (Rebecca Galeazzo); grandchildren, Joell Bates, Lea Faulkner, Peter Galeazzo, and Jacob Cloud; and siblings, Ki Nam (Jang Lok), Im Sun (Soo Jin), Gi Sun (Kwangsoo), Ki Young (In Ok), and Hee (Ju Bong).
Pallbearers are Eric Do, KJ Yang, Gun Yungi, Johnny Kim, Chul Soon, Andrew Kim, Teho Kim, and Kyle Villarreal.
