Macon, GA-Wilsie Kostedt died at age 86 at the Hospice of Central Georgia's Pine Pointe facility on February 11, 2011. She suffered a major stroke several days earlier at her home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Saturday, February 12, 201 at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Highland Hills Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Dant officiating. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
Wilsie, the daughter of the late Arthur and Maggie Chason, was born on August 26, 1924 in Calvary, Georgia. She moved to Macon after high school and married Don Kostedt of Kirkwood, Missouri. Mrs. Kostedt was the owner of Wilsie's Beauty Shop for over 50 years. She served on the Bibb Board of Mental Health. She was a long standing member of Highland Hills Baptist Church where she led the youth group, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years.
Mrs. Kostedt is survived by her two children, Bert Kostedt (Sharon) and Becky Kostedt Shaw (Wayne); two grandchildren, Jacob and Fawn Shaw; two great-grandchildren, Kendrick and Violet; one brother, Judge Willard Chason (Carolyn); and one sister, Adele Whitfield.
Mrs. Kostedt was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Don Kostedt, and sisters Doris Chason, Eris Carper and Helen Bishop.
