Macon- Willie T. Darity, Jr., 81, died Thursday, November 19, 2009. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 11:00AM at Riverside Cemetery with the Reverend John Kinser officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. Mr. Darity, son of the late Willie Thomas Darity, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Lenora Andrews Darity, graduated from Lanier High School in 1946 and attended Mercer University. He earned his pilot's license at the age of sixteen and had soloed at the age of fifteen at Herbert Smart Airport in Macon where he was employed. Mr. Darity had a paper route with the Macon Telegraph when he was sixteen. A veteran of the Korean War, he was a Corporal in the United States Army and also served in the Air National Guard. In 1961, Mr. Darity founded Litho Press, Inc., a local printing firm. Mr. Darity is survived by his wife, Betty Hart Darity of Macon; sons, Derek T. Darity (Julie) and Dodd Hart Darity, both of Macon; granddaughters, Jennifer Fleming (Adam) of Huntsville, AL and Laura Woodson (Daniel) of Macon; sisters, Juanita Watson and Bannie Edwards, both of Macon.
