William “Bill” Webster Lucado Jr., 64 of Juliette passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 18th, 2022.
Son of the late William Webster and Corneille Rylander Lucado, he attended Woodberry Forest School in Virginia and Darien High School in Darien, CT. After high school he attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC before entering the business world of the Patten Corporation. He became a very successful land developer and set up Southern Land and Lumber which he ran out of his office in Gray, Georgia.
His interests were wide and eclectic. He loved antiques, hunting, traveling and of course music. He became a well know and much-loved promoter in middle Georgia. He was responsible for changing the music scene in Macon and brought numerous bands to the area including such names as Little Richard, Taj Mahal, and the Tedeschi Trucks Band. He was involved in the early years of the Big House and was Derek Trucks mentor as he started his journey in music. He continued to be involved behind the scenes in music until his death.
Dogs also played a huge role in Bill’s life. He had his beloved chocolate Labrador, Moses, for 17 years. His current pack includes four Italian Spinones, Annie-Mae (The Queen Bee), Rastus, Liza-Jane, and Blossom. Last but not least is Bagel the Beagle who invited himself to stay one night when he heard good music playing at the house.
Bill is survived by his wife, Dr. Debbie Lucado-Gadd; stepdaughter, Emma Grace Gadd; stepson, Joey Gadd; and his cousin, Gigi Zimmer.
Fly high with your angel wings. Your friends are waiting for you and now the party can begin. We will see you again when our work on earth is done. Until then, we will miss you with every breath we take and every beat of our hearts. We all loved you, Bill Lucado.
A celebration of his life will be held in the coming months. The family has requested that memorials be made to The Big House Museum in Macon, Georgia.
