William J. "Sparky" Olheiser

William J. “Sparky” Olheiser, Jr., 74, of Macon, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on January 8, 2022, at Hart’s at the Cupola. The family will greet friends a half hour before the service.

Sparky proudly served his country in the United States Army, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was known for being a talented mechanic. If he couldn’t fix it, no one could. You could always find him in his shed, or what he called his “man cave,” or just sitting outside soaking up the sun. He loved whittling and making wooden trinkets. He was a huge Nascar fan and loved watching his favorites, Denny Hamlin and Mark Martin.   He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and swinging on the swing with his little buddy, Eli.

Sparky is survived by his daughters, Mandy Marie Olheiser (Hector), and Cindi Ann Taylor (Jerry); grandchildren, Elijah Angel Gonzales, Katherine Gonzales, Hector Isaiah Gonzales, Eric Jones, Kevin Jones, Liz Rowton, Cindy Brent, Charlie Nichols, and Ashley Nichols; brothers, Patrick Olheiser (Gloria), Michael Olheiser (Carolyn), and Timothy Olheiser; sisters, Jill Krug (Bill) and Vicki Olheiser; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Safina Olheiser, son, Eric (Charlie) Nichols; and parents, William Jerome Olheiser, Sr. and Hazel Cross Olheiser.
