Macon- William Emmett Pound, MD, 93, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11:00AM at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church with the Reverends Tommy Mason and Tommy Perkins officiating. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery. The family may be contacted at the residence and will greet friends in the church parlor immediately following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Mulberry Street United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or to Macon Outreach, c/o Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 149, Macon, Georgia 31202. Dr. Pound, son of the late James Emmett Pound and the late Veva Marie Dixon Pound, was born in Macon. He was predeceased by his sister, Louise Bloor. Dr. Pound was a member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board. A graduate of Mercer University and a member of Kappa Alpha Order, Dr. Pound graduated from the Medical College of Georgia. He was a medical doctor in the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific Theatre. Dr. Pound began practicing medicine in Eatonton, Georgia before moving his practice to Macon. He was a former chairman of the Bibb County Board of Health and a former president of Macon and Eatonton Kiwanis Clubs. Dr. Pound is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Marguerite Tuten Pound of Macon; son, William Emmett Pound, Jr. (Cindy) of Jasper, Georgia; daughters, Betty Ruff (Bill) of Bogart, Georgia and Joan Weaver (Charlie) of Bluffton, South Carolina; grandchildren, Tiffanie McHale (Brendan), Chloe Ruff-Miller (Ross), Carley Ruff and Will Ruff; five great-grandchildren; nieces, Cathy Servais (Roy) and Moira Lacey (Tommy) and nephew, Ronald Bloor.
