William Michael “Mike” Seekins

August 6, 1961 — June 25, 2025

Macon

William Michael “Mike” Seekins, owner of Famous Mike’s and lifelong resident of Macon, GA, passed away on June 25, 2025, at the age of 63.

Mike is survived by his two children, Sam and Kendall Seekins; his two sisters, Vicki Lazzari (Mark) and Nancy Kelemen (Chuck); and his beloved nieces and nephews of Gainesville, GA. He was predeceased by his father, William Wallace “Wally” Seekins, and his mother, Betty Seekins.

Mike was born in Miami, FL, on August 6, 1961. He was an avid athlete and sports fan. He graduated from Stratford Academy, where he earned All-State pitcher of the year. As a senior, he set the all-time SEAIS (Southeastern Association of Independent Schools) record for football receptions, with more than 800 receptions over his high school career. He earned a scholarship to play football at Presbyterian College. As an adult he enjoyed golf with his friends and was known for his ability to hit a long drive.

Mike was a passionate collector of music memorabilia, sports memorabilia, and Native American artifacts. Mike loved camping with his friends and family, watersports, and being at the lake. He could often be found cooking at his restaurant or chatting with customers, all of whom he considered part of his extended family.

Mike was especially known for his generous spirit, whether providing meals for Macon’s homeless or cooking to raise money for the Daybreak Center at the annual Sky Dog Music Festival. It was always clear that Mike was a man of generosity and was always willing to help those in need. More than anything, he loved God and his family.

Mike’s family will receive visitors at Hart’s Mortuary on Sunday, June 29th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of his life at Famous Mike’s from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Food and refreshments are being graciously donated by Piedmont Brewery and Grow Fresh Local Food.
