William Maurice Maxwell

Macon- William Maurice Maxwell, age 74, died Thursday, May 31, 2012 following a brief illness. Funeral services and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street, with burial at 3:30PM in Danville Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Saturday from 1:00PM until 2:00PM at the funeral home. Mr. Maxwell was a lifelong resident of Macon. He was the son of Christine Simmons Maxwell and Oscar Maxwell. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Annette Maxwell, and brother, Oscar Maxwell, Jr. (Judy) of Huntsville, Alabama. He is the loving father of Lynne Maxwell and Maureen Robertson (David) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, son, Marc Maxwell (Wendy) of Oviedo, Florida, and four grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Gordy. Mr. Maxwell was a member of Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church. Retired from Robins Air Force Base Civilian Personnel, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, enjoying nature and collecting antiques. Known for his sense of humor and love of homemade peach ice cream, he never met a stranger. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
