William Claude Lee

William Claude Lee: 72, of Macon, Georgia passed away Friday, March 26, 2010 after an extended illness. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Christ. Dr. Robert Setzer will officiate. Burial will be private in the North Gate of Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will follow the service at the church. Mr. Lee was predeceased by his parents, Claude and Bessie Lee of Perry, Ga. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Christ. Through the years he served in many leadership roles. He loved music and was a choir member of 50 years. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific from March 1945 to July 1946. He graduated from Mercer University in 1949. He retired from Robins Air Force Base in 1989 as Deputy Director of the Supply Division. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed living on Lake Tobesofkee for 17 years. His great joy was entertaining his grandchildren at the lake. In December, he and his wife, Mary Davis Lee celebrated sixty years of marriage. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Davis Lee (Lynn) of Kennesaw; William C. Lee (Beth) of Marietta. Their grandchildren are Abbey Dawson (Marc), Will, Meredith, Laura, Hannah, and Davis Lee. There are two great grandchildren, Adelaide and Eudora Dawson. Among his many cousins in Perry, he and Robert L. Satterfield (Sara) often enjoyed being together. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Christ, 511 High Place, Macon, Ga. 31201 or to Heartland Hospice, 115 Arkwright Rd, Macon, Ga. 31210.
