William "Bill" C. Jones

July 31, 1929 — April 25, 2012

Macon-William C. "Bill" Jones, 82, born in Atlanta, Georgia, graduated from Boys High and Georgia Tech where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. After serving in Korea, he joined the Macon office of Merrill Lynch where he became manager until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Jones served on the boards of Wesleyan College, Macon College, Boy Scouts of America, and Georgia Securities Dealers' Association. He was a charter member of the RAFB Museum of Aviation, led the Keystone campaign to raise money for the School of Engineering at Mercer University, President of Macon Arts Alliance, Chairman of Macon/Bibb County Planning and Zoning Commission and an active member of the Macon Rotary Club and First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and working crossword puzzles. Mr. Jones was predeceased by his wife, Peggy. He is survived by his three children, Doug (Cindy) of Atlanta, Bruce (Tava) of Atlanta, and Barbara (Marty) Foshee of Milledgeville; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 3:00PM on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend John Kinser officiating. Family will greet friends following the service between 4:30-6:30pm at the Gables on Forsyth Road Clubhouse, 5228 Forsyth Road.
