William Joseph Buzzell passed away November 23, 2018. He was the son of Brig. Gen. Reginald William Buzzell and Josephine Start Buzzell of Bennington, Vermont. He was born in Newport, Vermont on June 1, 1928. During World War II while his father was stationed at Camp Wheeler he attended Lanier High School. He graduated from the University of Vermont where he was Cadet Colonel of the ROTC. He served as a Lieutenant during the Korean Conflict. In 1950 he married Claude Cason Burns. In Macon he was the President of the Georgia Motor Finance Company.
He served on the American Federal Savings and Loan Association board, the budget committee of the United Givers Fund, the finance committee of the Girl Scout Council, and the Macon Day Care Center board. He was a member of the Macon Rotary Club and Idle Hour County Club.
At Northminster Presbyterian Church he served as an Elder, clerk of the session, Sunday school teacher and chairman of the Christian Education Committee for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Brig. Gen. Reginald William Buzzell, Josephine Start Buzzell, his sister Elizabeth Buzzell Chapman, his brother David Start Buzzell and his granddaughter Virginia Parker Buzzell. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Claude Burns Buzzell; his children Reginald William Buzzell II (Virginia) of Macon, Georgia, Sydney Buzzell Jackson (Thomas) of Athens, Georgia, and Francesca Buzzell Leskosky of Macon, Georgia. His grandchildren are Cason Buzzell Wilkin (Robert) of Macon, Georgia, Reginald William Buzzell III (Mary Allison) of Macon, Georgia, Dr. Lanier Burns Jackson (Anne) of Charleston, South Carolina, Thomas Lewis Jackson (Emily) of Atlanta, Georgia, Sutton Leskosky Boling (Lance) of Atlanta, Georgia, Julia Link McNure (Trevor) of Atlanta, Georgia, and McAllister Burns Leskosky of Macon, Georgia.
His great grandchildren are Robert Eager Wilkin III, Virginia Parker Wilkin, Nancy Anne Buzzell, Reginald William Buzzell IV, Brooks Parker Buzzell, Thomas Bryan Jackson, William Burns Jackson and Louisa Jane Jackson.
The Buzzell family wishes to express their appreciation to their friends Desmond Dudley & Nadia Hodge.
The funeral service will take place Tuesday, November 27th, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Riverside Cemetery. Reverend Ralph W. Hawkins will officiate.
