William Charles Boswell, Jr.

Macon - William Charles Boswell, Jr., 74, died Monday, July 18, 2011. Memorial services will be held 11:00AM on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Vineville United Methodist Church with Dr. Billy Oliver officiating. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be between 7:00-8:00PM on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road.

Mr. Boswell was born in Macon, Georgia, the son of the late Dr. W.C. Boswell and Doris Glisson Boswell. He graduated from Lanier High School and in 1958 received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech. While at Tech, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. After graduation, he served as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Mr. Boswell was also a registered professional engineer and during his business career served as president of Macon Prestressed Concrete Company, Tindall Concrete Georgia, Corbin Supply Company and as a manager of Dillon/ Macon Mine and Mill. More recently, he enjoyed working as a sales associate at American Specialties Company. Mr. Boswell was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church where he served in the past on various committees as well as the Administrative Board. He was also a member of the Macon Civic Club and Idle Hour Country Club.

Mr. Boswell was preceded in death by wives Jane Elizabeth Brooks Boswell and Margaret Eulalia Wilson Boswell and his brother John T. Boswell. He is survived by five children: Elizabeth B. Avant (Jeff) and W.C. Boswell III (Shannon) of Macon; Marykate Drake of Ft. Myers, Florida; and Katherine Ann Drake Webster and Henry Drake of Boulder, Colorado. He is also survived by eight granddaughters: Kayla Avant, Caroline Avant, Mary Wilson Avant, Chandler Webster, Kelsey Webster, Anna Katherine Boswell, Lucy Boswell and Liza Boswell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Frederick and Henry Kate Wilson Mission fund at Vineville United Methodist Church, 2045 Vineville Ave., Macon, GA 31204 or donor's favorite charity.
