William Julius Penn III (Bill) passed away peacefully on August 27, 2022, at the age of 72. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Hart’s on Cherry Street, with the Reverend Tommy Odom officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service, and burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s honor to American Cancer Society, at https://donate3.cancer.org
Bill was born and raised in Macon, Georgia, and later joined the National Guard where he proudly served his country. He graduated from Mercer University with a business degree and worked for Mid Ga Sales Distribution Company for over 40 years. At an early age, he developed a passion for softball that carried on into his early 50s. His greatest joys were his children and granddaughters, and spending time with family and friends.
Son of the late William J. Penn Jr. and Anne Penn; Survived by his son, Will Penn (Jessica); daughter, Caitlin Penn (Rem); two granddaughters, Adalyn and Anistyn, and another on the way; five brothers, Dave Penn (Valee), Donald Penn (Donna), Ronald Penn, Tommy Penn, and Jim Penn (Carol); two sisters, Ginger Penn, and Anne Hand (Steve); and many nieces and nephews.
