Wilfred Carson Rainey

March 16, 1938 — May 11, 2015

Wilfred "Wimp" Carson Rainey passed away at his home Monday, May 11, 2015. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, May 14 at Bradley Baptist Church, 821 Monticello Highway, Gray, GA 31032, with the Reverend Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, May 13 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home, 307 Pecan Lane, Gray, GA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Bradley Baptist Church, Road to Hope program, P.O Box 61, Gray, GA 31032. Wimp was born in Payne City to the late Horace T. Rainey and the late Editha Wilkes Rainey. He retired from Armstrong World Industries and was a member of Bradley Baptist Church. Wimp served in the United States Army and enjoyed fishing and coaching softball. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Norton. Survivors include his wife, Jerri Rainey; children, Lea Bessey (Mark), Cyndi Mabia (Randy) and Butch Bryan (Laurie); grandchildren, Damien Stewart, Clay Stewart, Emily Dodgen and Lance Mabia; seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
