Macon, GA-Wilbert Hardy Douglas, age 90, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 2, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. Interment will follow in Macon Memorial Park. The Reverend Joe McDaniel will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday at Hart's at the Cupola.
Mrs. Douglas was born in Homer, Georgia and lived most of her life in Macon. She was a member of Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church and the Ed Lukemire Sunday School Class. Mrs. Douglas worked for and retired from Bell South. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and a master at crossword puzzles. With her late husband, John Q. Douglas, she travelled extensively across the United States and around the world.
Mrs. Douglas is predeceased by husbands George J. Hughes and John Q. Douglas and 7 brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Douglas is survived by her daughter Almira Horton (Frankie) of Macon; granddaughters Jane Jones (Wilson) of Appleton, Wisconsin and Amy DeVane (Brent) of Macon; great grandchildren Emily Jones of Appleton, WI, Nathan DeVane of Macon, Jake Jones of Appleton, WI, and Sunny DeVane of Macon; sister Lois Chambers of High Shoals, Georgia; brother-in-law H.S. Fouts (Sue) of Las Vegas, Nevada; nieces Alice Osen (Richard) of Dunwody, Georgia and Fay Danley (Russell) of Peterman, Alabama; and nephews Raymond Chambers (Kay) of Simpsonville, South Carolina and Timothy Fouts (Renee) of Pace, Florida.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church.
