Weyman A. Roberts

Weyman A. Roberts, 81, of Jones County, was called home Friday, November 28, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Elam Baptist Church with the Reverends David Mosely and Gary Thomas officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation: Saturday from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. The family may be contacted at 120 Lite-N-Tie Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care Options, 1125 Walnut Street, Macon, GA 31201.

A lifelong resident of Jones County, Mr. Roberts graduated from Jones County High School in 1944. He was retired from Inland Container having never taken a sick day during his 30 years of service. He served on the Jones County Board of Commissioners from 1992 to 2000. He attended Elam Baptist Church. He was a devoted and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Roberts was the son of the late Osborne Jackson Roberts and the late Katie Lucille Jones Roberts. He was predeceased by his brother, Melvin Roberts.

Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife of 55 years, Myrtice Childree Roberts of Jones County; five children, Randy Roberts, Diane Wade (Rusty), Denise Watson (Johnny), Keith Roberts, and Ronny Roberts, all of Jones County; 8 grandchildren, Greg Tyson, Ashley Tyson Mackin (Darren), Chad Jackson, Brad Jackson (Jessica), Caitlin Roberts, Dawson Roberts, Becky Jancze, and Samantha Malloy; sisters, Shirley Williams Tanner (Clint) of Macon and Winona Key Sharp (Jerry) of Centerville; and his beloved dog, Dakota.
