Wayne Alexander Monroe, Jr.

March 17, 1925 — April 16, 2014

Wayne Alexander Monroe Jr., 89, of Macon, Georgia, died April 16th, 2014. Son of Wayne and Edith Monroe, loving husband of Madalyn McAdams Monroe, passed away on April 16th at the Medical Center of Central Georgia after a long battle with illnesses complicated by Parkinson’s disease. He is survived by his wife Madalyn, his son Alex, and daughters Marthalyn and Meredythe. He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Monroe worked at Blue Bird Bus Company in Fort Valley, Georgia, for twenty years before moving to Milledgeville, Georgia to serve as the Georgia College Assistant Comptroller until his retirement. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, where he served as president of the Milledgeville Chapter and served as Lt. Governor for the State of Georgia. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A visitation will be held Friday, April 18, 2014 starting at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral services held in the chapel of Hart’s Mortuary at the Cupola at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery in Milledgeville, Ga. at 2:30 p.m.

In Lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the First United Methodist Church, 366 Log Cabin Road, Milledgeville, Georgia 31061.
