Wauthane McLendon Gurley, known by her family and friends as "Mac", entered into eternal peace on January 7, 2015 at Community Hospice in Vidalia, Georgia. Wauthane was born on June 15, 1926, the first-born of the late Harley and Ruby (O'Brien) McLendon of Soperton, GA. Upon graduation from Soperton High School in 1943, she moved to Macon, GA and began her career with BellSouth until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Macon Council. She was a long-time member of Park Memorial United Methodist Church and in later years, became a member of Mabel White Baptist Church. She had a loving and generous heart and was always giving and caring for others, especially her brothers and sisters. She was predeceased by her husbands, J. Marvin Gurley and Alton F. Pilcher; siblings, James Adolph, Evelyn H.D., J.E., Harley, Jr., and Bobby Gene McLendon. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her brother, Hugh McLendon of Soperton, GA; sisters, Nell Yancey of Vidalia, GA, Patricia Holmes, Deborah Stephens, and Teresa Burke of Ailey, GA and Harlene Slocumb of Macon, GA; her step-children, Connie Hattaway, Tommy Pilcher and Kerry Pilcher of Macon, GA, and Reggie Pilcher of Thomson, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, GA on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2:00PM with the Reverend James Rayburn officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Hart's at the Cupola. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, PO Box 2277, Vidalia, GA 30474; or Red Bluff Baptist Church, c/o Janet Page, 538 Red Bluff Church Road, Soperton, GA; or a charity of your choice.
