Vivian Hawkins Bridges

Vivian Hawkins Bridges, 88, of Macon, GA passed away December 25, 2008. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 11:00AM at Macon Memorial Park with the Reverend Tommy Martin officiating.

Mrs. Bridges was born August 22, 1920 in Jones County, GA. She was the daughter of the late Preston and Pearle Bonner Hawkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. J. "Jeff" Bridges, Sr., brothers, Harold, Holmes and John Hawkins and sister, Edith Hines.

Mrs. Bridges retired as a field deputy from the Georgia Department of Labor in 1979. She served as past Regent of the Oliver Morton Chapter of the DAR and past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile Ha Hisla Temple #98. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Macon Little Theatre and various other organizations.

She was an active member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church where she served as president of the Edith Coleman Sunday School Class, served on the Administrative Board of the church and was a member of the United Methodist Women.

Mrs. Bridges is survived by her son, Jeff Bridges, Jr. (Delia) of Gray; grandsons, Charles Bridges (Meredith) and Ross Bridges; great-grandsons, Rho Bridges and Ellis Bridges, all of Macon. She is also survived by first cousin, Mobley Gamble Ross (Ben) of Lincolnton, GA.

Visitation will be Monday, December 29, 2008 from 5:00PM until 6:30PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, Music Department, 719 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201 or to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 4406, Macon, GA 31208.

Hart's Mortuary and Crematory, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.
