Virginia P. Grant Thigpen passed away on December 25, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 11:00AM at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210. Dr. Mark Hudgins and Reverend Jimmy Duke will be officiating. The visitation will be one hour prior with burial following at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Vineville United Methodist Church, 2045 Vineville Ave., Macon, GA 31204; Gentiva Hospice, 319 Margie Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088 or the donor's favorite charity. Virginia is predeceased by her husband of fifty-five years Jack O. Grant, Sr. and second husband William Thigpen. She was a long time member of Vineville United Methodist Church where she attended the Ed Cook Sunday School Class. She was a former member of Idle Hour Country Club and a bridge player. She is survived by her son Jack O. Grant, Jr. (Kathleen) of Lizella, GA; daughter Carolyn Grant Smothers (Thomas) of Macon, GA; grandchildren, Tim Grant (Erika) of Jackson, GA, Tom Grant (Kay) of Macon, GA, Kelly Grant Philbrick (Bill) of Macon, GA, Andy Smothers (Suzie) of Powder Springs, GA, Mary Virginia Smothers Ferguson (George) of Roswell, GA and Carolyn Smothers Stuart (Barry) of Macon, GA; step grandchildren Elizabeth Baldwin (Chuck) of Cary, NC, and Stephanie Williams (Ricky) of Round Oak, GA; fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
