Byron, GA- Virgil Cannon, 79, of 3268 Jordan Road, died Thursday, January 15, 2009. Services will be held Sunday, January 18, 2009 at 2:00PM at Union Chapel Evangelistic Church with the Reverend Gary Holley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family may be contacted at the residence and will greet friends at Hart's Mortuary on Cherry Street on Saturday from 4:00PM until 6:00PM. Mr. Cannon was a member of Union Chapel Evangelistic Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a retired Sergeant from the United States Army, serving in Korea and Viet Nam. Mr. Cannon was retired from Macon Water Authority. Mr. Cannon is survived by his wife, Florence Cannon of Byron; children, Gary Meeks of Milledgeville, Bill Weaver (Mary) of Tallahassee, FL, Bobbi Bennett of Byron, GA, Sherry Posey (Ben) of Juliette, GA, and Marc Cannon of Cartersville, GA; son-in-law, Thomas Bennett of Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren, Chuck Lee, Justin Lee, Blake Lee, Alan Bennett, Lee Bennett, Bubba Posey, Krista Posey, Timmy Hobby, Ashlee Weaver and Kyle Weaver; great-grandchildren, Layla Weaver, Logan Bennett, Kealyn Bennett and Korbin Bennett; sisters, Laverne Pennell of Macon, Ann Roberson of Dexter, GA and Jewell Young of Jesup, GA; brothers, Bill Cannon of Dexter, GA and Wayne Cannon.
