Vasudev Venkatrao Kulkarni

Dr. Vasudev V. Kulkarni, 82, of Macon, Georgia, passed peacefully from this life Sunday morning, January 29, 2023. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Hart’s Mortuary Chapel, 765 Cherry Street, Macon, Georgia. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charitable organization of your choosing. Dr. Kulkarni was born in 1940 in Dharwad, India to Venkatrao and Subhadra Kulkarni, the second of 6 children. He completed his medical education at Seth GS Medical College in 1961 in Mumbai where he met and married his wife, Ramola in 1969. Moving to Macon in 1978, Dr. Kulkarni continued his career in Emergency Medicine, working at the Medical Center ER, Charter Northside ER, and many other Middle Georgia emergency departments throughout his decades-long career. He also opened his own practice, The East Dublin Urgent Care Center.

Dr. Kulkarni continued his education, graduating from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 1989 and earning a Master of Business Administration from Mercer in 1998. Dr. Kulkarni had a passion for golf, swimming, and running, completing several marathons including the New York City Marathon, the Chicago Ultra Marathon, and his favorite, The Boston Marathon, thirteen times.

Dr. Kulkarni was a founding Trustee of the Hindu Temple of Atlanta and a Sanskrit scholar, teaching the ancient language and religious texts to many students over the years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ramola; his daughters, Viju (Doug) and Mai; granddaughter, Krishna (Patrick); and great-granddaughters, Karmen and Kamilla.  He is also survived by his brother, Vithal; sister, Mohini; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
