Macon-Thomas (Tommy) Fletcher McNorrill, Jr. died on Saturday, August 22, 2009. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 25 at 2:00 PM at Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church, 1415 Bass Road, Macon, with burial at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery, 3969 Mercer University Drive. The family will receive friends and relatives at a Visitation held at Harts Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road on Monday, August 24 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM . The family may be contacted at the residence, 111 Brookstone Court, Macon. Tommy was a Veteran of the Army, having served in the Korean War. He was retired from Robins Air Force Base. He was active in Bethesda Baptist Church for 40 years, where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher, and currently active in Mabel White Baptist Church. He was a big youth and adult sports fan and an avid Braves fan. He loved the old time country music, listened to the Grand Ole Opry and played the guitar, performing in various local bands (with Wendy, his special angel, as his greatest fan), including playing at Swampland and Powersville. After his retirement, he devoted his life to the care of his daughter, Wendy, and to the other loves of his life- his wife Ann, of 54 years , daughters and grandchildren, whom he enjoyed with all his heart. Tommy was preceded in death by his daughter Wendy McNorrill. He is survived by his wife, Ann Fries McNorrill, daughters Terri Wilson, M.D. (Bruce) of Barnesville, Ga. and Jan Laskey (Dean) of Macon and grandchildren Anna, Emily and Sam Wilson and Jordan and Luke Laskey; brother Jim McNorrill (Frances) of Macon; sister Betty Weeks(Elmo) of Savannah and many wonderful friends. Contributions in his memory may be made to Elam Academy, for special needs children, or Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church. Harts Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, has charge of arrangements.
