Tina Dawn Nickles, 56, of Macon, Georgia passed away at a local hospital after a battle with heart failure. Dawn was born in Gainesville, Georgia on May 21st, 1969, to Gary Lane Simmons and the late Alice Patricia Theriault. Soon after Dawn’s youngest sister was born, her family moved to Macon to join her late grandparents after they moved from Gainesville in the early seventies. From there Dawn grew up in the Jones County area and remained a lifelong resident.
Dawn was a 1987 graduate of Jones County High School, and earned her Associate Degree in Business from Crandall Junior College. Dawn was a devout employee of GEICO until her retirement in 2021. She served 25 years in the claims department, and was a valued colleague and friend to many at GEICO.
Dawn loved tending to her many plants. An avid gardener, she tended and grew a variety of plants that she took great pride in and was always willing to share a clipping or “root” one for you. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and helping them explore what they loved to do. She loved her family and will be remembered for her fiery demeanor, big heart, and larger than life personality.
Dawn was preceded in death by her daughter, Mackensie Nickles (Dustin Williams), and her mother, Alice Patricia Theriault. She is survived by her father Gary (Melinda) Simmons of Marietta; sons, Lane (Taylor) Adams of Gray and Thomas (Alana) Nickles of Gray; her sisters Carrie (Adam) Smith of Gray, Mary (Robb) Murray of Gray, and Andrea (Jay) Prichett of Kennesaw; her grandchildren Rylee and Memphis Adams, Avery Grace and Johnny Mack Nickles; her life-long friend Denise Curry; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Her family takes solace in the fact that she has been reunited with her daughter and her mother in heaven and is pain free!
"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4
