Thyra Eason Nelson

Ms. Thyra Eason Nelson, 73, of Macon, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023.  Graveside funeral services will be at Riverside Cemetery, Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 11:00AM, with the Reverend Robbie Passmore officiating.

Thyra was a devoted mother and valued her family.  She graduated from Baldwin High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Georgia College.  She went on to earn a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She enjoyed learning and held degrees in several fields.  At the time of her retirement, she was in the Information Technology department at Macon State College.   She was a generous and determined woman who was active in her church throughout her life.  She delighted to give to missionaries spreading the Gospel and to help people in need.

Thyra is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Claire Eason.  She is survived by her daughter, Ami Neder; her sister, Eleanor Howell; her brother, Charles Eason and his wife Harriet; her nephew, Jonathan Eason and his wife Cason; her niece Lydia Eason; and her great nephew Eli Eason.
