Thomas Harlan "Tommy" McCook passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2013. Services will be 11:00AM on Friday, September 20, 2013 at Highland Hills Baptist Church with the Reverend Cass DuCharme and Dr. Jim Dant officiating. Family will greet friends between 5:00-8:00PM at 4848 Brittany Drive, Macon, Georgia on Thursday, September 19, 2013. Donations may be made to donor's favorite charity. Tommy was a member of Highland Hills Baptist Church. He was a lifetime resident of Macon, Georgia. He was the son of the late James Washington McCook, Jr. and the late Elizabeth Hay McCook. Tommy graduated from Lanier High School in 1958 and attended Mercer University and The University of Georgia where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He left The University of Georgia to help run his late father's business, Macon Concrete Pipe Company. Tommy was Chairman of the Board of First Liberty Bank. He graciously supported many local charities. He was a member of the Macon Civic Club. Tommy was a patient, humble, loving man whose family always came first. To his family and friends, his wonderful sense of humor was a source of joy. He loved animals and children, and he shared a generosity of spirit with people from all walks of life. His strength of character under physical duress was an inspiration to all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Mimi Lanier McCook of Macon; daughter, Wimberley McCook Rader (Richard) of Macon; son, Thomas Harlan McCook, Jr. (Cammie) of Macon; five grandchildren, Mimi and Gabrielle Rader, Tommy McCook III, Evans McCook, and Shorter McCook all of Macon; brother, Jimmy McCook (Toni) of Macon; sister, Virginia McCook Solomon (King) of Macon; first-cousin, Billy Anderson (Carolyn) of Macon; nieces and nephews, Kathleen McCook Hofstadter (Bob) of Raleigh, North Carolina, James McCook IV of Athens, Georgia, Lee Lineberger (Ann) of Macon, and Lisa Lineberger of Macon; five great nieces and nephews, Zack Hofstadter, Lee Lineberger IV, Jackie Lineberger, Virginia Ann Lineberger, and Jimmy Hernandez; special family friends, Carlton Shipp, Derek Toliver, Carolyn Shipp, and Sabine Andersen; and his canine companion, Sugarfoot McCook.
