Tommy was born on August 10, 1949, in Sanford, Florida to Robert T. Bryan and Mildred L. Daniel. As a young man, Tommy excelled at sports at Seminole High School and was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 1968 MLB Amateur Draft to play baseball. After a short career in the minor leagues, Tommy joined the Southern Company and enjoyed 40 years with the power company.
An avid golfer, Tommy spent his retirement years on the course and was a long-time member of Oakview Golf Course in Macon. He also enjoyed cruising the Western Hemisphere with his wife and after her passing, he even took a few solo adventures. Alaska held a special place in Tommy’s heart, and he had quite an extensive T-shirt collection from multiple cruises to visit the glaciers. Tommy was deeply invested in the recovery community in Macon and enjoyed his Gift of Sobriety (39 years) by sharing his experience, strength and hope with so very many over those years.
Tommy was the eldest of six children. He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Corliss, and two of his brothers, Scott and Mark Bryan. Tommy is survived by his brothers Mike (Melanie) Bryan and Bob (Debbie) Bryan, and by his sister, Peggy Cox. He is also survived by his two children, Chris (Shayna) Bryan and Ginny (Ben) Parler, and by three step-children, Pat (Lisa) Railey, Chris (Suzanne) Railey and Brandy McDow. He is a grandfather many times over and will be missed by Kat, Ford, Georgia, Bo, Bryan, Caleb, Jason, Emily, Carl, Sam and Abby. He was also an uncle to many nieces and nephews, cousin to many in Georgia & Florida and friend, mentor and advisor to so many in the AA community near and far.
