It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Thomas Frank “Tom” Richardson, Jr., on February 15, 2024, at the age of 39. Born on September 21, 1984, in Macon, Georgia, Tom's bright spirit and infectious enthusiasm were a gift to all who knew him.
In his younger years, he earned the nickname "Mr. Excitement" as a star player on the Vine-Ingle All Star baseball team. His speed and agility in running the bases were instrumental in their first ever regional competition victory.
Tom was a graduate of Central High School, where he became a skilled soccer player and member of the varsity soccer team for four years. Tom graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in political science in 2007. He had a wide circle of friends, and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
In his professional life, Tom brought his gift for connecting with people to the staffing industry. He co-founded his own company, MOTR Staffing, with his wife Maureen, and had recently been hired by TeamWRX Staffing. Tom loved music and had an encyclopedic knowledge of sports, which he shared generously. He was also a committed youth basketball coach in North Atlanta.
Tom cherished his friends and family. He was a loving son and brother, and a devoted father to his son, Thomas Frank Richardson III (“Tom”), whom he adored.
Tom is survived by his wife, Maureen O'Neill Richardson; son, Thomas Frank Richardson, III, of Atlanta, Georgia; parents, Tom and Mary Anne Richardson, of Macon; sisters, Anne Aldridge (Burns), of Asheville, North Carolina, and Laurie Richardson (Ian Klaus) of Woodside, California; nieces and nephews: Burns Lowe Aldridge, Mary Thomas Aldridge, Louisa Klaus, and Remy Klaus; aunts and uncles: Jimbo Berg (Martha), of Macon, Lee Berg (Laura), of Atlanta, Georgia, Edward Berg, of Naples, Florida, Bobby Berg (Richard Burns), of New York, New York, Bill Berg (Allison), of Decatur, Georgia, Chuck Richardson, of Macon, Laurie Richardson (Ken Maddox), of Silver Spring, Maryland, and Taffy Noble (Doug), of Jacksonville, Florida; and many dearly loved cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024, in the Chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola, with the Reverend Creede Hinshaw officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
