Thomas Nolan Thigpen

Fort Valley-Tom Thigpen, 67, passed away June 6, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held Friday, June 10, 2011 from 6PM-8PM at 307 Woodpoint Ct., Lizella. Interment will be in Birmingham, Alabama alongside his mother and father, C.W. Sr. and Helen Thigpen, who preceded him in death. Born in Wilmington, N.C., Tom lived in Birmingham until his teens then moved to Los Angeles, California where he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. Tom later lived in Macon working for the Macon Telegraph as a Computer Programmer Analyst until he retired and moved to Fort Valley. Mr. Thigpen is survived by his three children, Thomas N. Thigpen, II (Missy), Brad Defore (Kim) his stepson and Susan Defore his stepdaughter. Tom had one grandson, Thomas N. Thigpen, III; seven step-grandchildren, AJ Fullmoore, Christopher Bunce, Brian Draughon, Ashley Defore, Lacie James, Bradley Defore, II and Christopher Young. He had two great grandchildren, Kinsley James and Bailey Mueller. He is also survived by his two brothers, C.W. Thigpen, III (Michline) of Stuart, Florida and Jim Thigpen (Ann) of Atlanta; two nieces, Kim and Laura Thigpen both from California; and his loving friend of 44 years, Angie Thigpen. Tom also had two faithful and loving dogs, Baxter and Sam. Tom had an extended family in Byron, Georgia, Larry Collins (Miss Charlotte) and Howard Collins.
