Lizella, GA- Edwin Hicks, 95, of 2999 South Lizella Road, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010. Services will be held at Lizella United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at 3:00PM with the Reverend Loran Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family may be contacted at 669 Lee Road and will greet friends on Saturday, October 16, 2010 between 6:00-8:00PM at Hart's at the Cupola. Flowers accepted or donations may be made to Lizella United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 2920 S. Lizella Road, Lizella, GA 31052. Mr. Hicks was a faithful member of Lizella United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for fifty years and was a past lay leader and a member of the Administrative Board. A veteran of the United States Army, he served during World War II in the India Burma Theatre. Mr. Hicks was a charter member of Golden "E" Exchange Club and a member of Sunny Morning Breakfast Club. He was a past Master of Masonic Lodge #663 and a past Worthy Patron of #390 Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Hicks was a retired postmaster from Lizella Post Office. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Margaret Smith Hicks. Mr. Hicks is survived by his son, Thomas E. Hicks, Jr. (Donna) of Macon; nieces and nephews, Hal Hicks (Glenda) of Lizella, Ricky Hicks (Wynelle) of Lizella, Lida Jo O'Neal of Roberta, Elsie Clark of Milledgeville, Emily Carter (James) of Lizella; and several great nieces and nephews.
