Thomas "Tommy" Henry Mason

Thomas Henry (Tommy) Mason, 75, of Macon, Georgia, died on Thursday, October 6, 2022 following a brief illness. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Centenary United Methodist Church at 1290 College Street, Macon Georgia, 31201 followed by burial at Macon Memorial Park. Rev. Sara Pugh Montgomery and Rev. Dr. Timothy Bagwell will officiate. The family will greet friends at 12:00 PM in the Round Room at the church.

Tom was born in Macon, Georgia on December 10, 1946 to the late Thomas Lamar and Anna Mae Sheppard Mason. He graduated from Willingham High School in 1965 and attended Mercer University, where he received his undergraduate degree in 1969 and earned his Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He is a former pastor in the United Methodist Church and served several churches in the South Georgia Conference.

Tom had a brilliant mind as evidenced by his academic achievements and his love for deep conversations and illuminating discussions, as well as a fondness for music of all types. He was an encourager of both friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Aultman; daughter, Amanda Mason Wicks (Stephen), twin grandsons, Logan and Mason, granddaughter, Caitlyn - all of East Cobb, Georgia; sister-in-law, Laura Matthews Mason of Macon; and a niece.

He is predeceased by his first wife, Carol Sims Mason, and his younger brother, Michael Lamar (Mike) Mason who died on August 22nd of this year, who Tom described as his rock. The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to his caregivers at Pine Point Hospice in his final days.
