Thomas William "Bill" Preston

Thomas William "Bill" Preston, 85, went into the arms of Jesus on Friday, December 25, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 11:00AM at Hart's Mortuary Jones County Chapel with Reverend Danny Lyles officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Cemetery on Houston Road in Macon, GA. The visitation will be held Monday, December 28, 2015 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Hart's Mortuary Jones County Chapel, 307 Pecan Lane, Gray, GA, 31032. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Scoven and Effie Preston; and sister Frances Lanford. He was a member of Lakeshore Community Church where he served as choir director, Sunday school teacher and lay preacher. Prior to that time he was a deacon at Northridge Baptist Church. He was an avid sportsman, gardener and a member of the Y Square Dancing Club. He was retired as an engineer from Central Georgia Railroad and as a supervisor from Warner Robins Air Force Base. Bill was survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Janice Preston of Milledgeville, GA; daughters Deborah Strange (Steve) of Tampa, FL, Carole Lumley (Dale) of Macon, GA, and Donna Allen (Dow) of Macon, GA; grandson, Stacey Lumley (Rebecca) of Macon, GA; granddaughters, Stephanie Malcom (Chad) of Gray, GA, Grace Allen and Ruby Allen of Macon, GA; three great grandsons, Jackson Malcom, Rhett Lumley and Aaron Lumley.
