Dr. Theo Farrell "Ted" Fullerton

March 26, 1941 — May 14, 2025

Dr. Theo Farrell Fullerton “Ted,” passed away on May 14, 2025, at age 84 in Louisville, CO. The only child of Theo and Ruth Fullerton, Ted was born on March 26, 1941, in Punxsutawney, PA. His mother Ruth was a loving homemaker, and his father Theo was a successful teacher/administrator in public schools. While he was an only child, Ted enjoyed close relationships with his cousins and their children throughout his life.

In 1963 Ted graduated from Principia College in Elsah, IL. After college Ted served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. While in Europe, he learned to appreciate other cultures and languages, which fueled a life-long love of travel. After the war, Ted returned to Pennsylvania and earned a Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology from Penn State in 1972

While studying at Penn State, he met his future wife Mary-Neal Richerson.  They married in Macon, GA in 1976 – the same year Mary-Neal earned her Ph.D. in German from Penn State. The couple moved to California where they lived, worked, and retired. Ted held several positions during his professional life and spent many years advising students in Career Services at San Diego State University. His insight and counsel were highly valued by many students and colleagues over the years.

Throughout their long marriage, Ted and Mary-Neal shared a great love of travel. Upon their retirement, the couple traveled extensively throughout the world, including multiple trips to Europe and Asia. They also attended Christian Science services in California and events at Principia College in Illinois.

Ted was a loving, wise, and generous soul to the end. His friendly, open demeanor allowed him to make friends easily in any environment.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and you could always count on him for good puns.  Throughout his life, he remained close with several cousins and their children, always making himself available for comfort, support, advice, and mentorship. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
