Thelma Smith Stanford

Mrs. Thelma Stanford, 78, of Gray, passed away Friday, September 17, 2021.  Funeral services will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 at 2:00PM at First Baptist Church of Gray, with the Reverend Randy Darnell officiating.  Interment at Cedar Ridge Cemetery will follow the service.

Mrs. Stanford was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gray where she loved to sing in the choir.  She served as Sunday School Director for many years, as well as being involved in numerous other ministries.  Mrs. Stanford loved growing flowers and plants, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a friend to everyone she met. She’s been described by those who knew her as sweet and caring. She had a zest for life, and she will be dearly missed.

Mrs. Stanford is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Philip Stanford, her son, Philip P. “Chipper” Stanford, Jr., and her seven siblings.  She is survived by her daughter, Michele Stanford, of Gray; son, Bruce Stanford (Whitman), of Gray; grandchildren, Ross Chaffin (Jordan), of Bremen, Georgia, Trevor Chaffin, of Lexington, South Carolina, Lindsey Stanford Ray (Chris), of Gray; Rosemary Kramer of Statesboro, Georgia, and Isabelle Kramer of Culloden, Georgia, and eight great-grandchildren.
