The Reverend Willie "Sarge" Hightower, 77, of Macon,passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 11 AM in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2617 Vinson Hwy in Milledgeville, Georgia. The Reverend Bill Dobbs will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2011 from 7:00 PM till 9:00 PM in the funeral home. Born in Macon, He was the son of the late Willie Hightower and Pauline Gregory Hightower. He was a retired First Sergeant with the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a Purple Heart and Silver Star recipient. Reverend Hightower was a retired supervisor of Plant Services Operations from Robins Air Force Base. Reverend Hightower is survived by his wife, Jie Liang Hightower of Macon; Children, Sharon Johnson of Putnam County, Terry Land of Jones County, Debra Smith of Juliette, Susan Walker of Putnam County, William "Bill" Hightower of Jones County; Sisters, Pearl Bales of Nebraska, Virgil Hightower of Splendora, TX, Ronell Daniels of Crawford County, Montine Richey of Ben Hill County, Carlene White of South Carolina, Kay Beasley of Savannah, and Janice Hightower; Brother, Richard "Frank" Hightower of Reynolds, Florida; and several granchildren and several great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the Masonic Childrens Home, 1417 Nottingham Drive, Macon, GA 31211. Family may be contacted at the residence. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
