The Reverend Roy D. Washburn, Sr.

October 8, 1930 — February 1, 2009

Macon- The Reverend Roy D. Washburn, Sr., 298 Old Highway 57, died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at his residence. Services will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 2:00PM at Greenwood Baptist Church with the Reverend Glynn Cranford officiating. Nine grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family may be contacted at the residence and will greet friends on Tuesday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greenwood Baptist Church, Building Fund, 3400 Gray Highway, Gray, GA 31032. The Reverend Washburn was a retired builder and bivocational minister. After serving a number of churches in the Macon area, he served fifteen years and retired from White Springs Baptist Church in Gordon. A lifelong resident of Jones County, he served on the Board of Education of Jones County. He was a member of the Gideons. The Reverend Washburn is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Betty Tidwell Washburn of Macon; sons, Dale Washburn (Donna), Derrell Washburn (Donna), Kevin Washburn, and Kim Washburn (Susan), all of Macon; grandchildren, Casey Washburn (Robyn), Brad Washburn, Melissa Washburn, Ben Washburn, Jamie McCuin (Bryce), Emily Dillon (Sam), Derrell Washburn, Jr., Daniel Washburn, Brandon Stoeckig, Jennifer Drury (Dow), Amanda Grant (Cason), Kelly Washburn (Jessie), Beau Washburn, Tarver Washburn and Will Washburn; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Hilda Sheffield of Macon and Nell Bierman of Vienna, IL; many nieces and nephews.
