The Reverend Clarence Lee Bennett, Jr.

The Reverend Clarence Lee Bennett, Jr., of Jeffersonville, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 2PM, at Ingleside United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Tommy Martin officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from 6PM until 8PM, at Hart’s Mortuary on Cherry Street. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Ingleside United Methodist Church or to the donor’s favorite charity. Lee, son of the late Clarence Lee Bennett, Sr. and the late Chleo Eugenia Warren Bennett, was born in Jackson, Mississippi. He was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and of Naval Officer Candidates’ School in Maryland and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Lee attended Southwestern Seminary in Texas. He was the former pastor of Cross Keys United Methodist Church and was currently serving Ingleside United Methodist Church. Lee loved gardening and growing flowers which he shared with others but most of all he treasured his family and friends. He was our rock and our help in times of need. He patterned his life according to the Holy Scriptures and our Savior, Jesus Christ. May his teaching be in our hearts and minds and comfort our souls. Survivors: Wife, Sheila Gail Bennett of Jeffersonville, GA; Daughter, Rachael (Jon) Grecko of Macon, GA; Son, Victor (Rosemary) Bennett of Flowery Branch, GA; Son, Rex Cooper of Athens, GA; Daughter, April Cooper of Jeffersonville, GA; Brother, Charles Warren Bennett of Pensacola, FL; Sister, Donna Jean (Allen) Jenkins of Crystal Springs, MS; Grandchildren, Mallorie Stancil, Emily Stancil, Tabitha Bennett, Ethan Bennett, Quinlan Bennett and Joseph Hayes Cooper.
