Ted was born in Chicopee, Massachusetts on January 29, 1926 to Karoline Mrowca Wach and Steven Wach, both immigrants from Poland. He was a veteran of WWII who served in the US Navy, including in the battle of Iwo Jima. After the War, he completed his high school education, received a BS degree in Forestry from Virginia Tech, and attended graduate school at Duke University, all on the GI Bill. In 1953, he started a 41-year career at Armstrong World Industries. In 2000, Ted moved to Bolingbroke, Georgia where he owned and operated the Bolingbroke Blueberry Farm and became known as the Blueberry Man. He and his wife of 63 years, Janie Myers Wach, have 4 children; Caroline W. Williams, Deborah W. Pille, Steven Wach, and Mike Wach; and 11 grandchildren. Ted had four sisters: Helen W. Wickie; Pauline W. Hardiman; Stephanie W. Lininger; and Bertha Wach and a brother, Andrew Wach, all of whom preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday, January 4, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Scott Winchel officiating. Vigil services will be held at 6:00PM Wednesday, at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. The family will greet friends following the vigil service.
