Susan Dougherty Huellemeier, 74, of Guntersville, Alabama, passed away Monday, July 24, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Hart’s Chapel at the Cupola. The family will greet friends following the service. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery.
Daughter of the late Louis William Dougherty and Virginia Saunders Dougherty, Susan was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 26, 1949. She was a 1967 graduate of A.L. Miller High School. Susan then pursued her higher education at Mercer University, where she was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971. Susan channeled her creativity into a successful career as a landscape designer, where she combined her love for nature and art. She was also a talented landscape and watercolor artist.
Susan is survived by her husband, Bobby Huellemeier of Guntersville, Alabama; children, Casey Huellemeier of Cleburne, Texas, and Taylor Huellemeier of Laguna Niguel, California; grandchild, Kennedy Fell of Cleburne, Texas ; brother, Scott Dougherty (Tina Conn) of Milledgeville, Georgia; niece, Rebecca Raine Webb (William) of Americus, Georgia; nephews, Brad Agers (Brooke) of Pensacola, Florida, and Bruce Agers (Flavia) of Acworth, Georgia; brothers-in-law, Jerry Huellemeier (Betty) and Stevie Huellemeier; and sister-in-law, Jenny Grosberg (Larry).
In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Vernon Dougherty.
