Stephen Stafford Putnal

Stephen Stafford Putnal (Steve) went home to be with his Lord and Savior, May 22, 2018 at his beloved Dixieland Plantation, surrounded by friends and family. Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 25, 2018 at Hart’s at the Cupola with funeral services to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn, Georgia.

Steve was born June 28, 1951 to Stafford and Mavis Putnal. He was a star football player at Lanier High school and continued his football career at Georgia Tech. After his football career was cut short by multiple injuries, he obtained a pharmacy degree and built a successful nuclear pharmacy business. He was a visionary in nuclear pharmacy and helped many students with their pharmacy educations and even helped his competitors with new technologies for the good of the entire industry. He helped many others from all walks of life, never seeking recognition for doing so. Steve was an avid and skilled hunter and fisherman and he painstakingly raised herds of white tail deer and elk at his farm, Dixieland Plantation, in Twiggs County. He was a proud member of the NRA and a staunch advocate of the 2nd Amendment. He was also a nationally recognized expert on the Civil War and Civil War memorabilia. Steve leaves behind a legacy of living life to the fullest and sharing with others. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Stafford and Mavis Putnal and brothers, Stan, Greg and Gary Putnal.

Steve is survived by his brother, Rex and sister Zeta Putnal Roundtree; the love of his life, Kay Lanneau Putnal, who he met in high school and was married to for almost 48 years; and his sister-in-law, Marie Lanneau Stepter, wife of Charles R. Stepter, Jr. (Chuck).
