Stanley Hampton Cornelius, 62, formerly of Dahlonega, GA, and Adairsville, GA, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at his home in Macon, GA. Stan was a kind, generous, and well-loved son, brother, husband, stepfather, and “Opa.” A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, GA 30114.
He graduated from Lumpkin County High School in 1981 and then joined the United States Army, serving honorably before continuing his service in the Army National Guard.
He studied electronics at North Georgia Tech and then worked for many years as a broadcast engineer at CNN in Atlanta, a career he truly loved.
He passed away peacefully after years of declining health. In his final years, he enjoyed playing video games, watching classic sci-fi television, cooking in his wok, and chatting with neighbors, family, and friends.
Mr. Cornelius is predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth “Liz” Cornelius of Dahlonega, GA, and Billy Cornelius of Nashville, GA.
He is survived by his brothers, Cawood (Gustavo) Cornelius of Calhoun, GA, and David (Bonnie) Cornelius of Macon, GA; his nieces and nephews, Miranda Bentley, Camellia Phillips, Jacob Cornelius, and Micah Cornelius; his ex-wife but forever friend, Martha Baldwin Cornelius of Adairsville, whom he loved dearly; her children, Duane Baldwin and Joshua Rowles; and her grandchildren, Amber Baldwin, Justin Baldwin, and Bailey Baldwin, who were great joys of his life.
