On September 12, 1964, God blessed the world with Stacy Lynn Timbrook, a vessel of love and light. Stacy was born in Buffalo, New York. Her family soon moved to Wheeling, West Virginia. During these formative years, she was nurtured by loving parents (Bob and Jo Ann Timbrook), close on the heels of protective brothers (Bob, Jr. and Jeff), and surrounded by many extended family. Wonderful memories were made with her cousins and friends.
The Timbrook family then moved to Marietta, Georgia, where Stacy attended Walton High School, served as a lifeguard in the summers, and began to run competitively. She continued running for the University of West Georgia while she completed her degree in Early Childhood Education. She began her teaching career after college. She loved her students and they loved her. Parents often stopped Stacy years later to tell her that she was their child’s favorite teacher. Her love for helping others and exercise, with a Divine nudge, led her to the next phase of life.
Stacy participated in a 150-mile charity bike ride for MS and met Bryan at Rock Eagle 4H Camp on August 27, 1988. By early December, they were engaged. On July 29, 1989, they were married at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta. Stacy took her running to a new level by competing in several marathons, including the Boston Marathon.
Stacy and Bryan moved to Athens, GA in Fall of 1989 where Bryan began his Master’s degree study and Stacy taught at Timothy Road Elementary. They loved their time as a new couple, making ends meet in married student housing. They moved back to West Cobb where Bryan served on faculty at Georgia Tech and Stacy returned to teaching in the Marietta School System.
After returning to the Atlanta area, Stacy began to experience bouts of illness, and doctors discovered an autoimmune disease was targeting both of her kidneys. Extreme treatments led doctors to proclaim she would not be able to have children. Divine blessing led to the birth of Allison in 1995 and Abby in 1997. The Hinson family moved to Bryan’s hometown of Macon when Abby was born where Stacy taught in Monroe County for 2 years. She then began a long, rewarding career teaching at Tattnall Square Academy, where the girls attended school. Stacy was born to be a Mom. She poured love into her family and made life fun.
Stacy received her first kidney transplant with a donation from her brother Bob Timbrook in 2002. This gift allowed Stacy (daughter, wife, mother, teacher, and more) to live a life full of happiness and make precious memories for many years.
In the Summer of 2014, the family experienced a traumatic loss when Abby died in a car crash. Bryan, Stacy, and Allison struggled to pick up the pieces of their lives. In 2021, Stacy’s donated kidney had reached the end of its service, and she began to receive dialysis, which took quite a toll on her health.
Despite this, Stacy was able to experience Allison’s wedding and welcome Haydn Hefner to the family. In 2022, Stacy’s friend Rosie Lowndes was determined to do something to help. Unable to donate a kidney directly, Rosie donated on Stacy’s behalf, which moved her to the top of the list and Stacy received a new kidney in December 2022. This gift of life allowed Stacy to welcome yet another new family member, her granddaughter Harper. Retiring after the transplant, Stacy’s joy was watching Harper while Allison followed in her mother’s footsteps, continuing her teaching career.
Stacy continued to be tired after the second transplant. In late September 2025, she was admitted to the Macon hospital, and then transported to Piedmont hospital in Atlanta where her gift of life had been given and received so many years ago. On October 11, the 23rd anniversary of her first kidney transplant, Stacy’s body had done all it could and her pain was taken away.
Stacy is preceded in death by her daughter Abby and her mother and father (Jo Ann and Bob Timbrook). Stacy is survived by her husband, Bryan; daughter Allison Hefner (Haydn); and her granddaughter Harper; along with other dear family and friends who mourn her loss.
